Halo 5 Guardians Will Not Feature Splitscreen

343 Industries has announced it will not feature a regular staple of the Halo diet, and that is or was splitscreen.

Executive Producer Josh Holmes said.

“The decision to remove split-screen support from Halo 5: Guardians was one of the most difficult ones we’ve ever had to make as a studio. We know that for many of our fans, Halo has meant playing together with friends in the same room. We all have great memories of past Halo split-screen multiplayer matches.”

“To move Halo’s gameplay forward and deliver a true next-gen experience, tough choices had to be made, Our decision was driven by a desire for scale, fidelity, and focus to ensure that we would deliver the best quality experience possible.”

Holmes also discussed AI, quote “massive scale enviroments”, and better visuals as reasons why splitscreen is a no go.

“Many of our ambitious goals for Halo 5 would be compromised in a split-screen setting and the time spent optimizing and addressing split-screen-specific issues would take focus from building other parts of the game,” he said. “Game development is a balancing act of resources, time, and technology, and in this case we made the tough decision to sacrifice something that’s been near and dear to us all.”

Halo 5 Guardians is dropping October 27 exclusively for Xbox One.

Gearbox 3D Realms Lawsuit Settled…What Now?

The Gearbox & 3D Realms lawsuit has been settled. If you are wondering Gearbox retained the rights to the Duke Nukem franchise. Originally the problems arose when 3D Realms was bought by Interceptor who briefly teased Duke Nukem Mass Destruction then 3D Realms were sued by Gearbox.

Now it seems the companies have settled the differences in a joint statement.  Gearbox, 3D Realms and Interceptor have said they have “resolved their differences”, and all litigation between them had ended.

3D Realms boss Mike Nielsen said,

“We never intended to cause any harm to Gearbox or Duke, which is why we immediately ceased development after Gearbox reached out,”

Nielsen also talked about his excitement for more Duke Nukem.

“To secure the future of Duke, 3D Realms has agreed with Gearbox that a single home serves the IP best. And as big Duke fans, we’re excited to see what Gearbox has in store for the ‘King.’ As for our own games, we’re eager to complete development of the ‘Bombshell’ game and get it in the hands of our fans.”

Randy Pitchford talked about bringing more Duke Nukem to gamers in the future.

“I did not acquire the franchise merely so people could experience Duke Nukem Forever,” he explained when asked if another Duke Nukem title would be made. “That was, sort of, the toll to pay to give Duke Nukem a chance at a future.

“So yes. In fact, we’ve done some concept development. The challenge is that Gearbox is very busy. A faster way would be if the correct developer would become interested and we’d work with them.”

Everquest ll Sends Cheaters to Prison Server Debate

Daybreak Games is going to launch a new “prison server” where cheating players get take a ride to the pen for good.
Daybreak explains some things,
“Characters on these accounts will be copied to Drunder (the ‘prison server’) and can never leave or transfer to another server,”
Daybreak went on to say
“You won’t be able to move individual characters to this server, while maintaining characters from the same account on another server,” Daybreak said. “This is a ONE-WAY trip for an entire account forever.
“Ultimately, players who break the rules–or want to–will have a world of their own to do… whatever they will,”
Now let’s all realize this is only temporary to see how the system will work in the future there could be a drastically different system implemented.

Guillermo Del Toro Doesn’t Need Gaming Part 2

Guillermo Del Toro doesn’t want back in the gaming industry. He lightheartedly said.

“I have proven to be the albatross of video games. I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami.”

“I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.”

Del Toro had said he might make a game with Kojima but now it’s out of the question.

“I went to the side of Kojima, because he’s a master, and I can gladly say that we are friends and I love his work and I will continue learning from him as a friend,” he continued. “But if I join another video game, World War 3 will start.”

Del Toro is not coming back to gaming and nobody can blame him. From the failed project Insane, co directing at Sundown, and Silent Hill. It’s just sad because he did have some really good ideas.

Techland Wants to Work on Dead Island 2

Techland has suggested it wants to take over development of Dead Island 2 with its bad luck in losing developer Yeager Development last month.
Techland producer Tymon Smektala said.
“I personally would love to go back to Dead Island because I really love that game,” he said. “I don’t know if there is a developer at all.”
Smektala went on to talk about how Dead Island  & Dying Light could co-exist.
“As I said, I love Dead Island and I think there is a place for both franchises to strive in the market. As long as someone would be able to find something that would make them different, that would draw a clear line, ‘Okay, here’s Dead Island, here’s Dying Light’, and I think that’s doable, then why not?”
At this point in time it’s in Deep Silver’s court to see if they want Techland back.

Chinese Knockoff Console Kickstarter The Ouye

Meet the Ouye, it has a PS4 design, the Xbox One controller, and is a glorified android console. The console, is being funded on a Chinese crowdfunding site. Truth be told this is a very bold ass move for a knock off. Just wait till Microsoft and Sony hit the news, wonder how they will feel about this.
