Street Fighter V DLC Model Analysis

Capcom has often been abusive when it comes to DLC and pinching wallets. To somewhat remedy this Capcom offers the theory of more long-term engagement, because the more you play, the more you are awarded. The core game will consist of 16 characters.
Capcom had some statements regarding the changes
“Looking back on the Street Fighter IV series, we had always released bundles of content all at once, like with Super Street Fighter IV and Ultra Street Fighter IV. While these one-time updates did revive interest in the series every few years, it was difficult to keep players engaged for long periods of time unless they were competitive. This also punished players who took a break from playing the game, because if they wanted to start again in a few years, they would be forced to purchase an upgrade to join the existing player pool who had already moved on to a new version. On top of that, this old method also forced players to purchase all of the new content, even if only a few characters may have appealed to them.”
“Players also have more freedom in their decisions, as they only need to purchase or earn the content that appeals to them. This will also create more long-term engagement, because the more you play the game, the more you are rewarded and can earn new content. The player base is never shrunk by requiring a paid update like in years past. Players can take a break from the game, but then come back at any time and continue to play with the characters they already own, with the newest gameplay balance.”
*Note Only Gameplay features is free, accessories and costumes cost real money.
Street Fighter V is coming to PS4 and PC next spring,  A PS4 beta is set to kick off on July 23 and will run through July 28, then a second beta involving PS4 and PC this fall. A third beta is announced but no release date given. Among other things, these betas will be used to tweak the in-game currency system.

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford Says You Are Stupid

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has been making odd comments relating criticism of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Pitchford claiming how he feels to those who publicly diminished his work.

“If you’re making entertainment on a grand scale, if you’re reaching millions, there will be tens of thousands of people who absolutely hate us, and some percentage of those will take it upon themselves to let us know how they feel,” Pitchford said, adding, “I read it in this way: we moved those people, we touched them – even the person who hates [your game] so much, you’ve affected them. That’s why we fight, we’re creating emotion and experience – and some people thrive on that type of feeling, some people are sadists.”

Pitchford goes into describing his sandcastle theory

“There is always the person who’s got to stand on the sand castle, they must crush it,” Pitchford said. “That’s their way of relating to that. It’s typically a less sophisticated mind. There’s a dark part of us all that likes the idea of crushing a sand castle, but most of us will respect it and let it be. That’s why we like playing video games where we can blow stuff up and no one gets hurt.”

EA Sports NCAA Video Game Lawsuit Settlement $60 Million

U.S. District judge Claudia Wilken verbally approved a $60 million settlement in court,  football and men’s basketball players will be getting paid for their appearances in Electronic Arts’ NCAA video games. The original claim was against EA and the Collegiate Licensing Company, for illegally using the names and likeness of players.
The maximum that players can receive from the settlement is around $7,200. When the settlement is officially approved on paper there will be a 30 day limit to appeal. The earliest these players could see money is September. EA has declined to comment.
Here are some specifics of the players entitled to receive payment,
Any athlete listed on the roster of a Division 1 football or basketball team that appeared in an EA Sports video game between May 2003 and September 2013 is eligible for cash payment.
EA has gotten off lucky with this one, this could of been far worse for the company. It is shameful such a low payout is being giving to players who had their identity stolen to fill pockets of executives.

Drugs in Esports is NOT Surpising

Drugs in esports…Yeah and gravity is real. How is this so surprising? Ever since one of the North American professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players Kory “Semphis” Friesen admitted that “everybody” does Adderall at eSports events. While this is clearly not directed at everyone who plays eSports and the statement seemed more in general of the people Friesen associates with. Friesen goes on to say
“I don’t even care”, he said. “We were all on Adderall. I don’t even give a fuck. It was pretty obvious if you listened to the comms. People can hate it or whatever.”
There are many things that will come of this news, One you will see drug testing, two there might even be a ban on all uppers in general unless medically required to take. The simple truth is esports is riddled with match fixing, gambling, trading insider information, drugs. This just puts esports in the same category as any other industry. This is not surprising at all, and people will always try to find a way to cheat to win.

Is Konami Being Childish About Kojima Split

While nobody quite knows the exact reason for the surprising split between Konami and long time partner in the Metal Gear Solid series Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions, With Kojima seemingly somewhat quiet about the whole affair but Konami seems to be going to extraordinary lengths to erase Kojima’s name from the game. This behavior is unprofessional and childish, and what makes this funny is when a person thinks about Metal Gear, They think Kojima not Konami. With micro-transactions infecting MGS The Phantom Pain one can only hope this is a good farewell of quality we want and not the overpriced schlock we have seen from the triple A gaming world.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Zombie Cast Thoughts

Treyarch director Jason Blundell and lead writer Craig Houston recently talked about Call of Duty Black Ops 3 leading into announcing the voice actor cast for the newest installment of Zombies titled “Shadows of Evil”. The cast had a few words to say as well about the roles they will be playing.

Heather Graham describes her character as a burlesque dancer with dreams of stardom and she’ll do anything it takes to get what she wants.
“I’m not a very nice person.”

Neal McDonough didn’t say anything about his character except

“a pretty straightforward guy”

Robert Picardo’s talks about his character the Shadow Man, who offers to help but possibly has some more sinister motive. As Robert Picardo says

“Everything I say is unreliable.”

Treyarch director Jason Blundell and lead writer Craig Houston kicked things off by discussing the origins of Nazi zombies in the series. Jason joked “It’s a thing that shouldn’t be.” Started as an after-hours project at the studio, Zombies in Call of Duty grew out of the team’s extracurricular tinkering with the game while World at War was in development.

Leveraging the enthusiasm of the community and the legacy of zombies of Black Ops, the developers are making the story more overt in Black Ops III and revisiting Mob of the Dead. Set in the 1940s, Shadows of Evil is a heavy noir piece full of gangsters, dancers, and boxers fighting against hordes and hordes of undead.

After a quick trailer, the team at Treyarch introduced the voice cast to the crowd at Comic-Con. The game will star Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman, Robert Picardo, and Jeff Goldblum.

All the characters are deeply flawed, with a secret that drives them to seek redemption. They’re tempted by Robert Picardo’s charcter, the Shadow Man, who offers to help but may have some more sinister motive. As Robert Picardo says “Everything I say in unreliable.”

Heather Graham describes her character as a burlesque dancer with dreams of stardom and she’ll do anything it takes to get what she wants. In her words, “I’m not a very nice person.”

Neal McDonough didn’t reveal his character’s name, but the general trend of his character is to be as foul-mouthed as possible, which was a guilty pleasure for McDonough, who claims to be “a pretty straightforward guy” in his personal life.

Ron Perlman explains his involvement

“All I was really looking for was street cred a 65-year-old mother fucker playing a boxer.”

Tom Kane as Takeo, Fred Tatasciore as Nikolai, Steve Blum as Dempsey, and Nolan North as Richtofen are back as well so no worries for the original cast.
